The
world is filled with children looking for something
to believe in, and someone
to follow along the way. Today’s
children often turn to popular figures in sports, music, film
and television for role models. Children fashion their wardrobe,
speech and behavior after pop-culture icons. Many of the public
figures display one exceptional quality or another that attracts
children’s attention and inspires their imagination,
but few could be classified as a hero.
In the mid 90’s a hero emerged to offer hope and direction.
His name is Bibleman. Unlike many of today’s would-be
heroes, Bibleman does not seek to glorify himself, but to inspire
children to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Although Bibleman
is a “superhero” character, the main
thrust of Bibleman is always and will always be evangelical.
In all
Bibleman videos, books, and live events throughout
around
the world,
the message is to encourage kids to form a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. Bibleman has become
a widely acclaimed
video series and the most popular live-action stage
show on the children's
ministry circuit.
In 2003, Children’s Pastor Robert T
Schlipp, of Northern California, was chosen to carry
on the legacy of Bibleman.
In 2004, Robert T and his wife, Anayansi
Schlipp, performed on the main stage at a Billy Graham
Crusade, Franklin Graham
Festival and churches across the United States. Robert
T also donned the role of Bibleman in two DVD releases. “It
is an honor to put on the ‘Full Armor of God’ as
Bibleman,” Robert T said. “We saw thousands of
children make commitments to Jesus Christ on our first year
on tour,” he said.
In 2005, the Bibleman road tour was
joined by Heather McSmith in the role of Biblegirl.
McSmith, who’s played Biblegirl
in five Bibleman episodes, was accompanied by her husband,
Kevin McSmith, in the role of the villain. The Bible Adventure
Team was given the entire Saturday morning service at the historic
Greater New York Billy Graham Crusade, which has been called
Billy Graham’s last North American crusade. The impact
of Bibleman attracted international media attention. In December
of 2005, the Bibleman brand was acquired by the children’s
division of Thomas Nelson Inc. The 2005 Live Tour
is available on DVD.
In 2006, a new era for Bibleman began with the production
of the first episodes of the Bibleman Powersource series, and
the publication of the Bibleman Biblezine. Bibleman Live continued
to share the gospel in select cities in 2006, with thousands
more accepting Christ.
In 2007, Thunder Media Ministries launched
a variety of Bibleman events to meet increasing demands
and supplement the full scale
road tour production. “We must constantly ask ourselves
how we can share the gospel with more people in more places.
We have begun to adapt our ministry events to fit the opportunities
God has provided, and we continue to see people choose to follow
Jesus Christ at every event,” Robert T said.
In 2008,
years of prayer were answered as Bibleman performed
outside the contiguous United States for the first time.
Ministry
events in Germany, Canada, Alaska, and the Virgin
Islands have opened the door to reaching children and families
around the
world. Today, Bibleman appears live at large scale
road tour events, small scale fly-date events, Christian
festivals, video
premieres, personal appearances and in-stores.
Part good, clean
fun — part life-giving truth, the Bibleman
videos and live events incorporate special effects, high-energy
music, battle choreography, larger-than-life characters, and
scripts that appeal to the whole family. More important than
the high-tech light shows, flashy costumes, and stage illusions
that catch children's attention, however, is the unmistakable
message of hope and spiritual truth that captures kids' hearts.
Bibleman is dedicated to reaching today’s children
an exciting presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
